English version

The terrace awning takes on a second job. The Energy Shift featured Germany's SolarMarkise, which builds photovoltaic material into the awning fabric and offers 1.35 kWp and 1.8 kWp versions. The post itself notes that 1.8 kWp is peak output under standard test conditions and that real generation depends on irradiation, orientation, shading, weather and how long the awning stays extended.

In Germany a cap changes the arithmetic. The Kurzinformation zu Steckersolargeräten, published by Germany's Federal Ministry for Economy and Energy on 30 March 2026, sets 800 W as the inverter limit and 2,000 Wp as the module limit for plug-in solar devices, with mandatory registration in the Marktstammdatenregister and legal basis in the EEG and the Solarspitzengesetz.

Output above 800 W therefore only becomes delivered energy when the inverter is not saturated. What sets the payback for the household is how much generation coincides with the home's own consumption. The awning is extended precisely when the sun is strong, which helps that overlap, but ties generation to use of the terrace.

That is the market route. By embedding generation in an item the consumer would buy anyway for shade, the maker splits the upfront cost across two functions and shortens the gap between the purchase decision and the first saving on the bill.
