Automation beyond software and trust as a condition

Automation has left software and entered factories, logistics and workplaces. The post reposted by the AI for Earth page addresses that shift and argues that adoption depends on trust, with clear regulation, safety standards, fail-safe systems and human oversight.

The installed base is already large. The International Federation of Robotics recorded, in World Robotics 2025 released on 25 September 2025, 4,664,000 industrial robots in operation worldwide in 2024, up 9% in a year, and 542,000 units installed that year, more than double the figure ten years earlier.

Every robot installed is new electrical load at a site whose contracted demand and incoming supply were already sized. The robot is replaced on a short cycle; the substation, the transformer and the demand contract amortise over decades and do not follow the same pace.

An automation project that does not review the electrical supply alongside the production layout buys output capacity the installation cannot yet carry.
