Ultra-fast charging only solves time when the vehicle, the charger and the grid agree. BYD has put into commercial operation in Brazil a Flash charger rated at up to 1,500 kW per connector, presented by the company as the first in commercial operation outside China.

Revista Business reported on 3 October 2026 the first commercial unit, at a Denza dealership in Brasília: 10% to 70% in five minutes and 97% in nine, with the Denza Z9 GT as the only compatible model in the country. The charger carries integrated storage, which allows it to be installed where the local grid cannot support the peak draw. The stated goal is a thousand chargers by the end of 2027.

Peak power depends on three links from the same supplier: the car battery, the charger and the station's storage. That speeds up the launch and concentrates the risk. While a single model reaches the maximum, the asset runs below installed capacity and the return is tied to how fast compatible vehicles arrive.

The most immediate gain is not speed, it is the storage at the station. It separates the power delivered to the car from the power available at the feeder, and opens charging points where a grid reinforcement would take years.
