India with 555,000 tonnes a year of green hydrogen contracted

Klaus Steven reposted Indian government data, released on 29 October, showing that Indian companies hold firm offtake contracts for 555,610 tonnes a year of green hydrogen equivalent, the largest volume worldwide, with 18 deals in 2026 alone. More than 70% of the volume is for export, according to the reposted article.

In the domestic market, revenue has a familiar shape. In the SECI auction of 30 July 2025, under the SIGHT programme, ACME won the supply of 75,000 tonnes a year of green ammonia to Paradeep Phosphates at Rs 55.75 per kilogram, under a 10 year contract, according to Renewable Watch. The programme covers 724,000 tonnes a year across 13 tenders.

A long contract with a set price is the basis for financing the capital estimated at ₹90,000 crore needed to meet the commitments. It is what separates intent from a bankable project.

For anyone structuring hydrogen outside India, this becomes the reference: firm volume, a ten year term and an identified buyer.
